While Michigan has historically pursued federal grant funding to the near-exclusion of other grantors, in 2013 a dedicated Corporate and Foundation Relations (CFR) team was established within the health system to identify new opportunities for funding in research; career development; conference and symposia support; post-doctoral and graduate-level scholarships. Since then, non-federal funding at Michigan Medicine has increased by $17 million as the CFR team works to target RFP’s to interested faculty, researchers, students and staff. This presentation summarizes the past five years of CFR programing and identifies resources that anyone in Michigan Medicine can access to learn about non-federal funding opportunities in their discipline, including a unique key-word auto-notification feature that sends targeted alerts to prospective applicants when a new RFP is released. CFR officers are also available to meet 1:1 or in small groups with prospective grant applicants.
