Event Description

Symposium Description:

On behalf of the Microbiome Center at the Pennsylvania State University, we invite you to join us for The Changing Microbiomes Symposium.  The Symposium will be held in person at the  Mountain View Country Club and Wyndham Garden Inn in Boalsburg, PA.

Masks will be required indoors, and social distancing will be in place wherever possible.

Microbiome change is critical to current and future biogeochemical fluxes, agricultural sustainability, and human health. Around the globe, microbiomes are changing due to natural and human-driven processes. Additionally, microbiomes are a resource, and targeted microbiome modification can drive the functional output of natural and managed systems.

The first Microbiome Symposium hosted by The Pennsylvania State University is scheduled for May 31 to June 3, 2022. This Microbiome Symposium will bring together leading researchers at the cutting edge of the transition to functional and process-driven microbiome research. Participants will share observational and experimental insights and the technical and methodological advances that enable them. Because these discoveries transcend systems, the symposium will span terrestrial and aquatic contexts and host-associated and free-living microbial communities.

The symposium will stimulate new research collaborations, inspire papers cutting across disciplines, and speed the adoption of cutting-edge tools into agricultural and translational contexts. The symposium will become a biennial event creating an ongoing, supportive, diverse, intimate environment for microbiome researchers at all career stages to connect.
