University of Michigan's Growing Strength in Aquatic Microbial Ecology
Greg Dick, of the Department of Earth & Environmental Sciences, and colleagues have been awarded funds by the University of Michigan's Water Center to study harmful algal blooms in the Great Lakes.
The project will support 11 researchers from five U-M units and a local federal agency. It will bring state-of-the-art technologies from genomics, chemistry and ecology to study blooms that are a global threat to freshwater ecosystems and human health.
