In this presentation, I will provide an overview of the role of microbes and the microbiome in public health, clinical microbiology and the environment. I will also discuss ways to improve human health by harnessing the power of NGS using the 4 Core Methods in Microbiology including Whole Genome Sequencing, Shotgun Metagenomics, and 16S rRNA Sequencing. Finally, I will provide an overview of some of the bioinformatics tools that can be used for data analysis from BaseSpace Sequencing Hub to 3rd party tools, to help you analyze your data.
