Viral Noncoding RNAs: New Insights into RNA Structure

Seminar Details
Monday, April 18, 2022 - 4:00pm to 5:30pm

Speaker

Joan Steitz, PhD
Sterling Professor Biophysics and Biochemistry, Yale School of Medicine

Location

In person : CHEM 1640

Chemistry Department Gomberg guest speaker, Professor Joan Steitz from Yale University School of Medicine.

Prof. Steitz is a pioneer in RNA biochemistry, having shown how ribosomal RNA is used to initiate translation at the start site of mRNA, discovering the role of RNAs in splicing, and revealing that introns have functions in cells (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joan_A._Steitz).
