Note that as part of the RNA-Seq Demystified registration, you can request to be automatically registered for the free companion workshop on 7/31-8/2 9-1 ET: Computational Foundations.
Registration closes 7/24/2023.
About the Workshop:
This virtual, hands-on workshop is targeted toward researchers who would like to be able to understand the analysis of differential gene expression in bulk RNA-Seq data. Please note that this workshop assumes a basic familiarity with genetics as well as familiarity with the basics of using Bash and R. To accommodate all learners, the core is offering a free 3 x 1/2 day Computational Foundations workshop on Bash/R ; see details.
By the end of the workshop, attendees will be able to:
- Use the command line and R to navigate, analyze, and visualize data files.
- Transform raw sequencing data into annotated differential expression values using a suite of open-source tools.
- Visualize and interpret common data quality problems and understand their impact and possible mitigations.
We will provide a server environment and a login, sample data, and required software. Attendees will use their own workstation/laptop to participate in the workshop and access the server environment; the workstation/laptop should have a microphone, camera, and reliable internet access. We will provide detailed setup instructions and assistance in advance of the workshop.
The workshop will be conducted over Zoom. The workshop experience is designed to be interactive and includes live-coding and opportunities for questions throughout. Although the workshop will be recorded, the recordings will only be made available to those who attend the workshop.
For more questions, please email us at bioinformatics-workshops@umich.edu or see the Bioinformatics Core website.
Note to University of Michigan attendees:
You will be prompted to enter a short code and short code owner/administrator during checkout. We will bill your short code via miCores at the conclusion of the workshop.
