The mission of the West Coast Bacterial Physiologists is to organize and promote an annual conference bringing together graduate students, postdoctoral scholars and faculty in a relaxed setting. This international conference is an excellent venue for trainees to gain experience and confidence in formal research presentations, and to interact with other trainees and senior scientists who share similar research interests.
For in-person conferences at Asilomar, four accomplished investigators are invited each year to present the John Ingraham Lectures in Microbial Physiology. All topics concerning the physiology of Bacteria and Archaea are discussed, including behavior, ecology, genetics, genomics, growth, metabolism, pathogenesis, phylogeny, regulation, structure, and symbiosis.
For in-person conferences (not 2021), sessions, lodging and meals are at the Asilomar Conference Grounds, a California State Park in Pacific Grove.
Four sessions of invited and submitted papers are planned to begin Friday evening and end Sunday noon. As usual, Saturday afternoon will be free for exploration and recreation.
