Course Description

The following single credit data analysis classes being offered are open for registration to students and staff. Classes run between 9am – 4pm in the days offered. Register by sending your university ID number to Heidi Thompson (heiditho@med.umich.edu). If you are not a student, you will need to provide a shortcode to cover an administration fee of $200.
 
612.1 Microbial genomics analysis (Evan Snitkin, PhD.) - April 21-23 - 1 credit
This module covers the basics of microbial genomic analysis using publicly available tools that are commonly referenced in genomics literature. Students will learn the steps and associated tools that are required to process, annotate and compare microbial genomes. Prerequisites: Prior participation in a 2-Day Data Carpentry Workshop that will be held April 19 and 20th or equivalent basic working knowledge of R and Unix. 

612.2 Reproducible data analysis with R (Pat Schloss, PhD. ) - February 10-12 - 1 credit
This module will introduce participants to the best practices in automating data analyses using R. Example will primarily come from diverse areas and will have a focus on data visualization. The discussion and methods will be generally applicable across science. Prerequisites: Ability to type and find your way around your laptop.
