UM Carpentries In Person Workshop
Event Description
On March 28th and 29th, U-M Carpentries is hosting an in person Software Carpentry workshop open to all members of the University of Michigan research community.
This workshop is focused on reproducible methods for data analysis and visualization using R, bash, and git. The curriculum will include:
* R for Plotting
* R for Data Analysis
* Writing Reports with R Markdown
* The Unix Shell
* Intro to git and GitHub
The target audience is learners who have little to no prior computational experience, and the instructors put a priority on creating a friendly environment to empower researchers and enable data-driven discovery. Even those with some experience will benefit, as the goal is to teach not only how to do analyses, but how to manage the process to make it as automated and reproducible as possible. For instance, after attending this workshop you will be able to:
* Analyze, plot, and report data reproducibly using R and R Markdown
* Use basic Unix shell commands
* Practice version control with git and GitHub
Space is limited and it will likely fill quickly. Our workshop is free. You can find a registration link on the workshop webpage where you will also find more information. Questions? Send an email to me at pschloss@umich.edu.
We hope you will sign up! Please feel free to forward this email to any one or groups who might be interested.
Thanks,
The U-M Carpentries Team
