Assistant Professor, Microbiology - EASTERN MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY

The Department of Biology invites applications for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor, beginning August 2024. We seek an individual with a Ph.D. and postdoctoral research experience in microbiology with ability and interest to teach at the college level. The Biology Department includes 19 faculty members and, in addition to its undergraduate programs, offers graduate programs in Molecular and Cellular Biology; Ecology, Evolution and Organismal Biology; and General Biology.

Candidates should have a strong commitment to teaching a diverse population of students and will be expected to teach undergraduate courses, including labs, in microbiology and upper-level undergraduate/graduate courses in their specialty (e.g., Microbial Pathogenesis, Mycology and/or Microbial Ecology). We value student research, and the successful candidate will be expected to establish an active microbiology research program that engages diverse undergraduate and Masters-level students.
