Applications now open for Postdoctoral Fellowships in Pandemic Prediction and Prevention at Virginia Tech

The Pandemic Prediction and Prevention Destination Area (PPP DA) project is a major initiative supported by the Office of the Provost at Virginia Tech. This effort seeks to educate and train a new generation of scientists with transformative technical and professional skills to form convergent teams that can anticipate future outbreaks and prevent them from becoming pandemics.

The PPP DA seeks highly qualified and motivated post-doctoral candidates in a wide number of areas, including but not limited to:

·      machine learning,

·      computational biology,

·      protein structure modeling,

·      viral evolution and genetics,

·      disease ecology and biogeography,

·      tissue engineering and 3D organoid models,          

·      antiviral drug discovery and design,   

·      virus transport and fate in the environment,

·      modeling of infectious disease dynamics, 

·      bioethics, and

·      infectious disease and outbreak communication.

Successful candidates will be expected to participate in this initiative's activities, including contributing to research projects and proposals and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.
