Postdoctoral Opportunity: Oral Cancer Microbiome (Meta-transcriptomics) - Temple University

The Oral Microbiome Research Laboratory at Temple University is seeking an outstanding postdoctoral fellow to conduct research in the area of oral cancer meta-transcriptome, under mentorship of Dr. Al-hebshi, the lab co-director. The appointed postdoc will work as part of an interdisciplinary research team, to study transcriptional activity as well as composition of the multi-kingdom microbiome associated with oral cancer, and correlate it with the gene expression of the host. The study is funded by NIDCR.

The candidate should have a doctorate or equivalent in a related field within the last 3 years, and at least three high-quality publications. Experience in molecular techniques including RNA extraction, rRNA depletion, q-PCR, and preparation of shotgun libraries for next generation sequencing are mandatory.Experience in any of the following is a plus:

  • Bioinformatic analysis of transcriptome sequencing data.
  • Handling frozen tissue specimens and microdissection
  • Animal models of oral cancer.
