Position Summary

The Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics is seeking a post-doctoral Research Associate.  This position is available in the lab of Dr. Christopher Waters and is supported by a five-year NIH grant. The area of study broadly includes many topics including biofilm formation, gene expression, ecology and evolution, and chemical signaling in Vibrio cholerae and other microorganisms.

The successful applicant will have demonstrated independence, drive, and creativity in their past research experiences as evidence by their research accomplishments and publication record, and strong verbal and written communications skills. The applicant will also be able to work productively in a team setting. The applicant is expected to have a Ph.D. in microbiology or a closely related field and have experience in molecular biology techniques, biochemistry, protein purification, and ‘omics’ approaches like RNA-Seq and/or TN-Seq.     

This is a full-time, 12-month fixed-term position with reappointment contingent on satisfactory performance and available funding.

Doctorate -Microbiology or closely related field

Minimum Requirements

Ph.D. in microbiology or a closely related field and have experience in molecular biology techniques, biochemistry, protein purification, and ‘omics’ approaches like RNA-Seq and/or TN-Seq.
