Qualifications / Requirements

  • PhD in Microbiology, or equivalent
  • Basic clinical microbiology experience, including aseptic technique, culturing, etc
  • Experience in NGS library preparation of complex microbial communities (eg. gut microbiome, environmental samples, etc)
  • Experience in performing microbial community analyses leveraging statistical tools
  • Bioinformatics experience (primer design, 16S community analyses, metagenomics, transcriptomics)
  • Plus: Post-doc or industry experience; experience managing teams
  • Plus: Experience in integrating other omics (metabolomics, proteomics, etc) to elucidate scientific questions

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement in vitro growth assays involving complex microbial communities
  • Prepare reports related to study
  • Direct, develop and optimize NGS library preparation methodologies
  • Direct computational analyses and development
  • Manage laboratory resources to meet given objectives, including managing budgets for projects
  • Mentor and supervise junior personnel
