The BioArtography Program will soon be giving out 4 travel awards of $300 each.  The travel award is intended to provide funding for Ph.D. graduate students and postdoctoral fellows to participate at scientific meetings and conferences. A random drawing will take place and four awards will be chosen (2 Ph.D. graduate students and 2 postdoctoral fellows).  All U-M Ph.D. graduate students & postdocs in a biomedical/bioscience field are eligible (e.g. Medical School basic science/clinical science, LSA, Dental School, Engineering, etc.).

In an effort to support innovative and collaborative work within the University of Michigan Medical School (UMMS), the Michigan Postdoctoral Pioneer Program has been established by the Endowment for Basic Sciences (EBS) to provide financial and mentoring support to highly motivated and accomplished post-doctoral fellows. Pioneer fellows will be actively co-mentored by the participating investigators and will be expected to share their time between the participating laboratory settings. Awardees will be appointed for three consecutive years.

The University of Michigan Center for Gastrointestinal Research (UMCGR) invites applications for microbiome-related Pilot Projects that are focused on interactions between gut microbes and the gut epithelium.  Funded projects will take advantage of a new service provided by the Microbiome Core that permits simultaneous cultivation of strictly anaerobic bacteria with a 2-dimensional colonic epithelium derived from human colonic stem cells.
